My illustration work for A Secret of a Painting, published by Ranok in Ukraine. This project is especially dear to me because it combines many of the elements I love illustrating most: folklore creatures, magical objects, charming sibling, mysterious old manors, and a world where history meets myth.
The book tells the story of twelve-year-old Sashka, who is drawn not to ordinary childhood pasttimes, but to museums, antiques, and mysterious paintings. When one painting pulls her into the year 1842, she finds herself in a place that feels strangely more like home. There, she befriends local children, discovers her own magical abilities, and becomes part of a larger mystery filled with hidden dangers and supernatural forces.
This middle grade fantasy gave me the opportunity to explore unique atmosphere, character, and storytelling through richly detailed black and white illustrations
